When they join the volunteer fire service, ordinary men and women are trained to do extraordinary things.
We are actively recruiting individuals who wish to serve the City of Tonawanda and the residents in the capacity of Volunteer Firefighter. Eligibility requirements include men or women ages 18 or older, who live or work in the City of Tonawanda or a surrounding town, good physical condition, and have a desire to to participate in fire and/or emergency activities. No prior training or fire service experience is necessary for membership. The various fire scene roles and responsibilities are determined by certifications obtained through various training programs. The Tonawanda Fire Department will provide any/all volunteer training.
Those persons who do not have the desire to participate in emergency activities, or do not meet the physical requirements for active membership are also encouraged to apply. These members contribute in the areas of fire scene support (fire police), fundraising, public relations, and public education.
