Welcome to Delaware Hose Company #2
140 years of service!
Delaware Hose Company was established in 1882, and is one of four independent volunteer fire companies in the City of Tonawanda NY. We are located at 74 Wheeler Street in Tonawanda.
The Tonawanda Fire Department is classified as a "combination" type department, which utilizes a combination of both volunteer and career personnel. The City of Tonawanda Fire Department currently operates out of 2 fire stations with Fire Headquarters located at 44 William Street and a substation located at 74 Wheeler Street. This makes it possible to efficiently provide many types of services for all citizens and maintains a 4-minute or less response time throughout the City of Tonawanda at a minimal cost.
We are actively recruiting individuals who wish to serve the City of Tonawanda in the capacity of Volunteer Firefighter. Eligibility requirements include men or women ages 18 or older, who live or work in the City of Tonawanda or a surrounding town, good physical condition, and have a desire to to participate in fire and/or emergency activities. No prior training or fire service experience is necessary for membership. The various fire scene roles and responsibilities are determined by certifications obtained through various training programs. The Tonawanda Fire Department will sponsor any/all volunteer training.
Those persons who do not have the desire to participate in emergency activities, or do not meet the physical requirements for active membership are also encouraged to apply. These members contribute in the areas of fire scene support (fire police), fundraising, public relations, and public education.
